The 11x world champion is more committed to refining his equipment than ever, and it's showing with his incredible surfing at Lowers

In the event that saw an array of Championship Tour (CT) surfers, including Kelly Slater & Jeremy Flores, battling to protect their place in the Top 34 and going head-to-head against up-and-coming Qualifying Series (QS) talent fighting hard to join the elite tour, Filipe Toledo was the standout performer to take the win at the 2015 Oakley Lowers Pro.

FCS has signed Filipe Toledo, Julian Wilson and Gabriel Medina to a 100% Hardware endorsement deal, with exciting plans to release newly developed signature hardware.

There are two main obstacles in spreading the gospel of sustainable surfboards to the masses: the relative scarcity of eco-friendly board choices, and the unwillingness of top pros to compete on alternatively-produced equipment. Both of those boundaries are soon to be smashed. Firewire, one of the largest surfboard manufacturers in the world, will soon make all of their boards according to the standards of the EcoBoard Project.

Two wins and a third has the radical Tahitian as a major title contender at the tour’s midway point.

Departing from "normal" surfboards in most aspects. Thomson's designs nevertheless trace their lineage to the earliest advances in modern equipment from Bob Simmons in the '40s and '50s, to Greenough's extensive work on fin design, and Steve Lis' fish. A natural collaboration with Richard Kenvin in the ongoing Hydrodynamica project has resulted in the planing hull reaching its logical extreme. Tom Curren said that Daniel Thomson has "opened the door for a design push"
