Firewire & Wingnut Unite

Robert 'Wingnut' Weaver

Firewire is stoked to announce a long-term partnership with Robert ‘Wingnut’ Weaver, one of the most iconic surfers of any generation who also starred in Endless Summer 2, and has spent the past 20+ years travelling the globe extending the Summer from China to Peru and beyond. With a reverence for the art of traditional longboarding, coupled with an appreciation for a more contemporary approach, Wingnut's designs will compliment Firewire’s existing longboard programme - currently anchored by 2X World Champion Taylor Jensen.

"We pride ourselves in building the very best surfboards that we can, so when one of the most influential longboarders ever chose to ride designs built in one of our technologies, it was a big deal for us”. – Mark Price, CEO, Firewire Surfboards

Wingnut with Mark Martinson

Wingnut worked with long-time Firewire design collaborator Dan Mann on one of the models, and Oahu-based traditionalist Mark Martinson on the other. The results are two distinct designs that will meet the needs of a broad cross-section of surfers, and will be offered in Firewire’s performance-proven, aesthetically pleasing and eco-friendly TIMBERTEK construction.

"I have been a fan of Firewire’s Timbertek technology since it was first released and I am looking forward to having my favorite shapes available soon. The way the EPS core and paulownia wood deck-skins enhance the momentum of the board is just amazing". – Robert 'Wingnut' Weaver

The Wingnut models will hit US retail in early 2016, and globally shortly thereafter.
