An Opening Ceremony was held with local government officials welcoming WSL officials and athletes to come and compete at this historic event at Tanjung Setia Beach, Lampung Province, Sumatra, Indonesia. WSL Officials made the call to put the event on standby and wait until tomorrow morning to start the competition.
“The waves look really fun, there are sets head high and bigger,” said Will Hayden-Smith WSL Australia/Oceania Regional Manager. “We have plenty of time in the waiting period and a great forecast so we are planning to make a call at 7am tomorrow. This place is incredible, the welcome we had this morning was fantastic and judging by the free surfing that has been going down we are all set for an exciting event.”
