Friday, December 19th 2014, Pipeline, Hawaii. Gabriel Medina (BRA) made history at the Billabong Pipe Masters today when he became the first Brazilian ever to win the World Title.

Medina's win came when Mick Fanning (AUS) lost his heat in Round 5.

“This means everything in the world to me, and it means so much to the people of Brazil. I’m having trouble believing this. You know how you have a dream? Well I just reached it!” - Gabriel Medina

Heading into the Billabong Pipe Masters event, Julian Wilson (AUS) needed a first place finish to secure a Vans Triple Crown title. Brazil's first World Champion Gabriel Medina sought to find the perfect ending to an emotional day with a victory at one of professional surfing's biggest stages.

In the dying minutes, Wilson narrowly bested the newly-crowned Champ with a second nine-point ride, bringing his heat total to a near-perfect 19.63 to secure both the Pipe Masters and Triple Crown titles.

“I have a couple of dreams and winning at Pipeline is definitely one of them. Next on the list is the world title.” - Julian Wilson

Huge congratulations to both! and also a job well done to Mick Fanning, Michel Bourez, Adriano de Souza for finishing on the top 10.

See you in 2015!!
